Letter 1. What are My Expectations of Life.

What are my Expectations of Life.

My Dear Thinette

Every young girl has high expectations and many fantasies about their future, all starry eyed about a wonderful romantic life. Dreaming of a fabulous white wedding, riding off into the sunset, streamers in the wind and visions of living this romantic life in luxury ever after.

Let us see where you want to be in the future. What are your expectations darling Thinette? Be honest jot them down, in a journal or in your Development file on your laptop, keeping them safe and follow your progress.

Well, lifestyle and habit changes might be in the air to achieve your goals my dear! You might want to become a professional a successful entrepreneur or a stay at home mom but happiness stays at the core of your being.

Well let us begin at the beginning.

PLAN OF ACTION.

• Know where you are going.

• Dedication and determination.

• Do your planning.

• Overcome obstacles.

• Learn to Separate

• Basic skills.

FOLLOW THE PLAN.

Know where you are going.

Everything you want to achieve in life will need a plan with tons of preparation, the more detail the better and then the execution there of.

You have to work one way or the other to make a living. The best is to know where you are heading and how. The only way to get results are thinking and planning. Start by putting yourself and your future first no matter what!

 DEDICATION AND DETERMINATION

Dedication and determination will be needed in huge quantities. Discipline and hard work will be the key to get there. You will have to be very firm with yourself and follow a tight working schedule. For now the lazy days are over.

Work hard when you are young to harvest the good fruits at old age.

DO ANNUAL PLANNING.

Thorough planning on a yearly, monthly, weekly and daily bases are necessary in reaching your goals. Keep all journals updated and keep proper records. Print it out and keep in files to keep track.

The same hard work and dedication a farmer has to go through to get meat or veggies on the table, you will have to put in to reach your goals.  There is no magic wand. It is a lengthy process before you can harvest the fruit of your labour.

Budget and treat yourself to one night a week out with friends and enjoy it.

 MANAGING YOUR OBSTACLES

Stay calm and overcome obstacles with logic. Learn to think out the box. Never complicate issues. See it for what it is an not what you think it is. Turn those obstacles in advantages.

Find people who are trustworthy and wise to be close to you to form your support group willing to helping you succeed. You will need a support group of people, not necessarily friends, that you can lean on when needed. Choose them wisely.  Select only a few, one for emotional support and a guru to help develop and build your business, one that is a creative thinker and a problem solver. You might find all in one person.

LEARN TO SEPARATE

If you can separate different happenings and issues in life you are halfway there. Put everything that happens to you in a separate little box in your mind. Nothing has to do with each other only in the bigger picture. If you had a flat tyre it was nobodies fault. Fix it and feel satisfied. When done see it as an experience needed. Close the box and get rid of it, don’t carry it with you the whole day. Moaning and groawning about it, will only steal your joy!

NEW SKILLS

You will have to armour yourself with new skills to deal with new developments in your life. Do some self study and research to gain more knowledge and become the expert in your field if interest.

A desire, dedication and persistence are crucial for reaching your dreams and goals.

STREETWISE LADY

Follow your planning relentlessly, making those dreams and expectations come true  is of the utmost importance.

There are two sides to enrich, your career and your personal side. They might need different sets if expertise to develope but keep it separate. Put each its own box. Mixing them will bring conflict of interest and dIvide your attention.

While on your way home after work put your career back in it’s box and close the lid, open your personal loving family box and start thinking about home. When you get home you will feel so relaxed already. Do the same in the mornings, on your way to work leave home at home and think of the business day full of important decisions to make.

The aim of these letters are to help getting you out the maze onto the high road to success as smoothly as possible my dear.

YOUR FREEDOM

Becoming a financially independent woman  brings the confidence you need, doing the things you want to do and the way you want to do it, and being responsible in the process. This plays a huge role in your happiness.

Know where you are going and keep going. Never stay at the crossroads and let all the others pass you.

**********

WORKSHOP:

In your journal:

• Decide and make a list of your expectations for your future.  Be realistic about your choices.

• Define your lifestyle and the way you want to live my dear.

    1. Thank you Joe appreciate your kind comment. If young people will just realise how quick time goes by. Soon they will be at the age to retire and are still dreaming.
Your summary is spot on those are the keys to your success.

      Stella

  4. I love the advice. It is very sound. If young people would just heed the advice we give them and not think they know it all.

    1. We were all there, only want to do our own thing. If only one knows how much valuable time gets wasted.
Successful young people are the ones who took advice early on.
Thank you for commenting James I appreciate it.

    2. Hi James
Don’t we all have that problem? If only ……
I know the young ones don’t want to be told but soon they find out they don’t know it all and that is way I write these letters.
It will always be there and they can come and read it in private whenever they need it, no one will know … lol
      Thank you for your comment

  5. Hi Gran Stella,

Great post and idea! Love the concept. So many young people these days are lost and have no direction. Suffering through life as they stumble their way forward. Having a meaning and purpose is so important for the young (as well as the old!)

Once they work out their meaning it becomes like a light house and guides them. Thanks for helping Thinette find her way! We all need a Gran Stella!

    Kev

    1. It is so true but when you are that age, you know best and fun is more important.
Lets hope this message will help more.
The tragedy is no parent is educating their kids. They all get send out to the world thinking it is their oyster and someone else will do the work for them!
      Thanks for your comment.

  6. As I read this the first of what appears as a series of letters to her granddaughter I wish this had come from my grandmother about 60 years ago. Though some of what Stella writes is directed at young ladies a huge portion is meaningful to young men.

Even now at almost 80 it si going to be interesting seeing how many points Stella presents that I can capture to apply to my own life experiences toward the goals I set for myself.

    1. Barry it is written to my granddaughter because it is all I have and really wanted to make it personal.
I accept the challenge to see if I can teach the proverbial dog new tricks.
Thank you for your valuable comment.
      Stella

  7. Hey Stella,

This is a wonderfully crafted and quite interesting read here. You succeed in depicting a powerful message that every youngster has to understand.

    1. Where I stay it is a need for the young to know these basics. If a parent does not teach them this at home where else will they get the knowledge from and sad to say most parents do not give this a second thought.
Thank you for a very motivating comment.
      Stella

  8. Thank you for the article. I’m 59 and still looking for my expectations in life. LOL! But you have a clear and concise plan for people to work and plan for their future. I enjoyed reading your article.

    1. Hi Daniel
I believe very few people our age sat down and planned our future. Times were different. Now a days planning it important and necessary to survive let alone make a success.
It is never to late, one can still do some planning for the rest of our time.
      Thank you for your comment.
      Stella

  9. Stella, these letters are so original and really heart warming. What a wonderful way to communicate to your grandchildren the principles of life, work ethic and morality.

    1. Thank you Schalk for your comment. It will motivate me to carry on. It is the only way to get a message through to the young pepole. Letting them read it in secret!
      I appreciate it thank you!
      Stella
